Day One - Commonwealth Youth Games by Kevin Taylor Oct 13th 2008

Four British fighters were in action today in Pune, India at the Commonwealth Youth Games. Tommy Stubbs the 2008 ABA champion at light-fly got off to a winning start when he stopped Ricardo Blackman in the fourth round of their preliminary round fight. Zack Davies of Wales is also through to the Quarter-finals where he will meet after stopping Rorisang Motopi in the opening round of their contest. Northern Ireland's Michael Conlon is also through after beating Zambian Pethias Chisenga 9-6 on points. All three will box again on Wednesday, 15th. The first British casualty was Douglas Price of Wales who went out on points to Mokhachane Moshoeshoe 23-11 in the preliminaries of the light-welterweight division Scotsman Robert McKee beat Zambia's Stephen Silungwe 16-13 on points also in the light-welterweight division In an all British clash Northern Ireland's Connor Coyle beat Scotland's Steven McAllister 10-5 on points in the welterweight division.
