Britain's Tony Jeffries was well beaten in his light-heavyweight Olympic semi-final, losing to Ireland's Kenny Egan by 10-3.
The first round ended even at 1-1 with Egan scoring early and Jeffries evening things up as he literally chased the Irishman into the ropes.
Things started to slip away from Jeffries in the second, a round which Egan won 3-0 to move 4-1 ahead. A straight left and right cross scored clearly but more importantly, Egan seemed to be dictating the tempo.
The class difference on the day began to tell in the third, which Egan won by another shutout, this time 4-0. Jeffries was getting frustrated but just couldn't seem to get his shots off whereas Egan's speed was impressive. The Sunderland man also showed little lateral movement and was often caught walking in.
Although Jeffries upped his efforts in the last, Egan gave him few opportunities and the Brit much vaunted power was nowhere to be seen.
The Irishman was a worthy winner at 10-3 - but don't forget, Jeffries joins Team GB's medal party and goes home with a bronze medal.
